T2 Weighted MR Angiography of Small Animals

Brain vascular tree with Mvivo SPIO
3D reconstruction of the rat brain vascular tree obtained in vivo with Mvivo USPIO, color coded with the vessel diameter.  Imaging was performed on a Varian 7T 210-mm small animal scanner (Varian Inc., Palo Alto, CA).  A T2*-weighted, slab-selective 3D gradient-echo sequence with phase encode rewind was used to obtain black-blood angiography images. Parameters are: TR = 50 ms, TE = 25 ms, FA = 15°, resolution = 78 × 78 × 104 μm3, field of view = 20 × 20 × 10 mm3, number of averages = 2, total acquisition time = 41 min.
